A little prep goes a long way! If your roots need touching up, your color could use a refresh, or your ends are feeling split, go ahead and schedule a salon visit. Just avoid any big changes right before your session—stick to what feels like you.
Come with your hair clean and completely dry. Greasy or damp roots are tough to style, and our team won’t have time to blow-dry at the studio. If you wash daily, shampoo that morning. If not, day-old hair is fine—as long as it’s fresh and clean. Clean hair gives our stylist the best base to work their magic.
Our stylists will use hot tools and dry styling to create your perfect look.
Long hair → Loose, beachy waves are a studio favorite—they photograph beautifully.
Short hair → Straight and sleek, spiky and bold, or soft and wavy—you’ve got options!
Curly hair → Arrive with your curls styled naturally, or straighten them so we can add loose curls. Either works.
If you’d rather do your own hair—especially if you wear wigs, have naturally curly hair, or know exactly how you like it—go for it! Just let our glam team know, and we’ll make sure your makeup pairs perfectly with your style.
MAKEUP & LASHES
• Arrive at the studio with your face clean, makeup free and moisturized.
• Feel free to bring inspiration photos to help guide the artist to the look you love.
• A boudoir shoot calls for makeup that’s bolder than your everyday look. It may feel heavier at first, but it’s exactly what photographs beautifully under studio lighting. Our professional hair and makeup artists specialize in boudoir styling and will make sure you look stunning. Share your preferences—we’ll follow them—just trust the process and enjoy the results.
• Many women worry about blemishes or small bruises showing in their photos. Don’t worry - whatever can’t be covered with makeup can always be photoshopped out.
• False lashes are the secret to that glamorous boudoir look. They’re included (unless you already have extensions) and may feel heavy at first, but once dry you won’t even notice them. You can opt out, but we highly recommend them!
• This is your chance to glam it up! Afterward, we’ll do a “reveal” so you can see your gorgeous self (and maybe share a video in our Facebook group 💕). If you’d like any changes to your hair or makeup, let us know before the shoot—it’s easiest to adjust then!
